Middle School and High School
The middle school  and High School met together to share the message of JOY!  We caroled to  shut-ins yesterday. .  What a great day!  I was so proud  of all of the youth and adults!  Thanks so much to those of you that drove.  We couldn't have done it without you!   I had someone come into the office today to thank the youth for singing to her husband last night.  I think the youth really got the message that what they did made a difference.
After we were done singing, we went back to the youth house to talk more about joy.  They were each given 2 bottles of bubbles- 1 to keep and share joy and 1 to give to someone else to spread the joy.  It's amazing how something as simple as a bottle of bubbles can bring a smile to everyone's face.

Mission Focus
Our holiday mission focus is giving to others by giving of ourselves rather than focusing on the commercialism of Christmas.  We are doing this by Salvation Army bell ringing, caroling, and finding ways to help others we see.  I hope that this gives more meaning to their holiday season- and to yours.

30 Day Challenge
I shared something I learned at my conference last week.  I challenged them to try it for 30 days and see if it impacts their life in a positive way.  We also discussed this in our parenting group and decided to do it for 30 days with our teens.  I know it might sound cheesy.  But, if it works and changes lives, what have we got to lose?

Open up your arms, take 3 deep breaths, and then say this 3 x's a day for 30 days-
(your name here) has the mark of greatness upon me. My life is full of unlimited greatness and endless possibilities. I deserve the best. The point to self (or hands on chest) I deserve the best! I deserve the best! I deserve the best!.
The guy leading the workshop said this will change your life- if you try it, let me know how it goes!

Hi!
I can't believe Christmas is almost here!  On the 21st, I'll be having my annual Classic Holiday Movie Night.  Anyone who would like to come watch the classics- White Christmas, Holiday Inn, Miracle on 34th Street, etc. is welcome to come.  It's been at my house in the past but it depends on how many are planning to come.  Bring pop or a snack to share.  During the holiday break, I'm hoping to take a trip to Chicago to see the lights and decorations.
Although we aren't having youth group the next 3 weeks, I hope to see everyone at church throughout the holiday season!  Christmas Eve services are at 5pm and 9pm.  Christmas Day and New Year's Day we will be having combined services at 9:30.
Blessings,
Jennifer

The High School group  has weekly discussions based on topics that come up or are relevant to things they are dealing with.  For instance, the topic of sin came up during our Thursday Generation Change class.  So, I thought it was an appropriate topic to delve deeper in to on Sunday.  Therefore, sometimes I will be able to tell you a week ahead of time what the will be discussing.  But, sometimes the topic will be changed by Sunday if something more relevant to them comes up in the meantime.   I believe this is helpful to keep them engaged and focused on living as a Christian teen.  If something comes up at home that you think would be a good topic for us, let me know.

Middle School and High School will be having the same focus during Thanksgiving and the advent season.  They will still meet separately since the topics may bring up different discussions due to different ages and experiences.
