Fellowship Opportunities

“We have many fellowship opportunities for our congregation and as an outreach to the community. Wonderful Wednesdays happen during the school year and offer a free meal at 5:00 followed by activities, discussions, and Bible studies for all ages, children through adults.”

Youth Activities

“Youth activities include weekly meetings, mission trips, camp, and other special activities. Our focus is to have a safe, positive place for teens to come and connect with each other and with God.”

Parents Night Out

“Parents Night Out is the first Saturday of every month 5:00- 8:30. This free activity includes stories, games, crafts, videos, and dinner. Parents can enjoy a night out knowing their children are having fun in a safe and loving place.”

Youth Mission Trips

“Youth mission trips and events are a big part of our youth ministry. It gives the teens an opportunity to grow and serve- and have fun, too!”

A Welcome Message from Pastor Bob Vale

Welcome to the La Porte First United Methodist Church website. I am glad you have chosen to spend a few moments looking around, discovering our church family and our many ministry opportunities. As I describe the First U.M.C. to people, I use words like “community’, family, serving, and spiritual growth.”

We are a group of people committed to following Jesus Christ in the world. That means we worship the Lord with vigor and joy, as well as sacred reverence. That means we encourage prayer in church and throughout life. That means we love people both inside and outside the church through generosity, invitation, love and compassion.

Our hope is that all people will feel loved and welcomed at the La Porte First United Methodist Church.  And once here, we pray that people will meet God and as a result of meeting God, give their lives to Jesus Christ. We want that for you. Come as you are. Check us out, but more importantly, seek the truth of God that can only be known when one knows Jesus. We have three different worship services on Sunday morning, with different worship styles, music styles, liturgy, communion, times and locations inside the church.  The same biblically based sermon is preached at all three worship services.

Perhaps there is a worship service at 8 a.m. in the smaller chapel, 9 am praise service in the Friendship Hall, or the traditional 10:30 a.m. worship service that meets in the beautiful sanctuary that, will allow you to worship with freedom and truth, the God of the universe.

While you are browsing our website, you will learn about our programs and ministries to catch a glimpse of who we are, but only a glimpse. To fully understand us, come to a worship service, our Wednesday evening Grace Café, or to a small group bible study or choir, and feel the up-close, in-person fellowship that comes when people share time together with the Holy Spirit present.

It is our belief that the church allows us to do much more together in our community than by ourselves, so jump in and serve with us.    By working and serving together, we can make a difference in the La Porte and surrounding communities for Jesus Christ.    We believe in the mission of loving God, Loving People and loving Life to the fullest in Jesus Christ.   Enjoy the website, then come. We’d love to meet you and know you
